Plot 1305 on the Yealmpton Tithe Map of 1843 is recorded as 'Slate Quarry Plantation' within the Tithe Apportionment. An 'Old Quarry' is labelled and illustrated within this plot on both the First and Second Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey maps (c.1880s and 1904-6), and the outline of the quarry is still shown on the Ordnance Survey Master Map.
