Summary

A group of four buildings are depicted within Plot 597 on the 1839 Newton Ferrers tithe map and recorded as 'Newton Down Farm' on the accompanying tithe apportionment. Newton Downs is also labelled on both the First Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s and the Second Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map of between 1904-06, although the arrangement of buildings has altered considerably. Presumably the earlier structures have been demolished/incorporated into the later development. Newton Downs is depicted on the Ordnance Survey 2015 Mastermap, although its extent has expanded since the Second Edition OS map.
