HER Number:MDV109388
Name:Possible Jetty at Hanaford Green

Summary

A possible jetty, or other such intertidal structure, is illustrated on both the First Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s and the Second Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map of between 1904-06 projecting into the River Yealm opposite Steer Point. It is labelled on the 1st edition as 'Hanaford Green (Ruin)' and on the 2nd simply as 'Hanaford Green'. The name appears to derive from the adjacent woodland, which at the time of the Newton Ferrers tithe survey of approximately 1838-48 was recorded as 'Hannaford Green Field' (Plot 604). It is unclear from the modern Ordnance Survey 2015 MasterMap whether the possible jetty is upstanding.
