A quarry is shown on the 1889 Ordnance Survey 1:2500 map at this location. The 1905 Ordnance Survey 1:2500 map shows 'Old Quarry' and by 1933 it is no longer annotated. The absence of the quarry from the 1842 Tithe map cannot be taken as proof that it did not exist at that time.
