A large probable extraction pit is visible as an irregularly-shaped earthwork, circa 35 by 40 metres across, on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards and on images derived from lidar data captured in 2010. No quarry is marked on the available historic mapping, but parts correspond to two irregular pits depicted with hachures on the late-19th century map; the rest is depicted as scrubby wooded land in the corner of a field, suggesting that the disuse of the pit pre-dated the mid-19th century. The pits are depicted as ponds on the modern mapping.
