Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2014-2015, East and Mid Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV356883.

A probable extraction pit is visible as an irregularly-shaped earthwork, circa 17 by 40 metres across, on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards and on images derived from lidar data captured in 2010. No quarry is marked on the available historic mapping, but the pit corresponds to an area depicted as scrubby land and a possible pond on the edge of a field, suggesting that the disuse of the pit pre-dated the mid-19th century. It is likely to be one of numerous former whetstone pits in this area.
