Parallel linear earthwork banks, circa 3.5 metres in width, are indistinctly visible on aerial photographs taken in 1947, although obscured by the tree canopy. This field to the north-west of Bowerwood is depicted as orchard on the late-19th century mapping, and the cross-contour alignment of the banks supports an interpretation as banks for fruit tree planting, which are likely to be post-medieval or 19th century in date. The ground surface was completely obscured by the tree canopy on aerial photographs taken in the 1950s, but no fruit trees or earthwork banks are visible on later available aerial photographs or on images derived from lidar data captured in 2010.
