Plot 59 on the Combeinteignhead Tithe Map of 1839 is recorded as 'Well Acre' and plot 60 is recorded as 'Well Dark Meadow' within the Combeinteignhead Tithe Apportionment. The field names indicate the presence of a well within the vicinity, although no features are depicted within either of these fields on the Tithe Map. A spring is, however, labelled at the southern end of the field on the First and Second Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey maps.
