Knightstone is a medieval and Tudor house rediscovered and improved in the 19th and 20th century. The lushly planted yew hedge gardens, in which the house is set, is entered through wrought iron gates with ball topped piers. The gardens were created by Colonel Reginald Cooper in 1941-2.
