Found 200 yards east of river sid about 1840. Represents centaur with rider and charging beast on pedestal which rests on a shank now broken. Below pedestal is a heavy hook-like bracket. Identified as upper part of one leg of a folding tripod to support either a table top, or bowl/basin. Latter more probable. Mid 2nd century or later. Detailed discussion and description (taylor).

Vis=15/4/1950(os) bronze figure of centaur and rider, now in r. A. M. Museum, exeter, was found by fishermen in 1840. It has been cast and is hollow, and filled with lead perhaps in modern times. The whole measures 178mm in height from top of centaur's head to bottom of broken shank, and 127mm at maximum width. Shank depth 41mm.
