Plot 36 is recorded as 'Pound Acre' and plot 40 is recorded as 'Pound Close' within the Topsham Tithe Apportionment.

Plot 36 on the Topsham Tithe Map of 1843 is recorded as 'Pound Acre' and plot 40 is recorded as 'Pound Close' within the Tithe Apportionment. It is possible that the field names indicate the presence of a pound within the vicinity, although it is perhaps more likely that they relate to the complex of buildings labelled as 'Pound Living,' situated to the north-east.
