The remains of probable post-medieval to 19th century date banks made for fruit tree planting and drainage were visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 2005 and 2012 as earthworks west of Thorverton.
Their alignment is cross-contour and they are interpreted as fruit tree planting banks of probable post-medieval to 19th century date that were probably made to enhance drainage within an orchard, draining into a drainage channel that flows immediately to the south.
The banks coincide with an orchard depicted on the on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch first edition map, and although the banks could not be defined the field remained lightly planted on aerial photographs of 1946. The banks were visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 2005 and 2012 and are therefore likely to survive as low earthworks.
