Plots 1207 and 1208 on the Exminster Tithe Map of 1842 are recorded as 'Pit Marsh' within the Tithe Apportionment. The field names indicate the presence of a pit or quarry within the vicinity, although no features are depicted within this area on either the Tithe Map or later First Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map.
