A possible former quarry pit of probable post-medieval date is visible as an earthwork on a steep east facing slope overlooking the Exe Valley, upslope of Hulk Lane, Thorverton. The pit is slightly irregularly shaped, approximately 40 metres long and 15 metres wide. A possible spoil heap is visible at the southern end of the pit. The precise function of the pit is unknown.
