An L-shaped building is shown within the south-east corner of plot 970 on the Branscombe Tithe Map of 1840. The plot is recorded as 'Barn Close' within the Branscombe Tithe Apportionment. A building is also shown in this location on both the First and Second Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey maps where it is labelled as 'Friar's Park Barn.' The building is still present on the Ordnance Survey Master Map, with new buildings now shown to the north and west.
