Full description

1782, A Plan of the Barton of Radway Situate in the Parish of Bishopsteignton and County of Devon, the Property of Mr: Jno Comyns Survey'd by James Foster July 1782 (Cartographic). SDV358114.

The plots are recorded as 'Higher Blindwells,' 'Middle Blindwells' and Lower Blindwells.'

Plots 1235 and 1206 are recorded as 'Blindwells' within the Bishopsteignton Tithe Apportionment.


Pink, F., 2014-2015, South Devon Coast Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey Desk-Based Assessment (Interpretation). SDV357736.

Plots 1235 and 1206 on the Bishopsteignton Tithe Map of 1839 are recorded as 'Blindwells' within the Tithe Apportionment. This land is depicted as three plots on an earlier estate map of Radway, and all three plots contain the name element 'Blindwells' within their field names. The field names may indicate the presence of a well within the vicinity, although no features are depicted on either of these maps, or on the later First Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map.
