Full description
Gent, T. + Manning, P., 2011, Historic Assessment of Agricultural Buildings at Wressing Farm, Kentisbeare, Devon, 1-2 (Report - Assessment). SDV349821.
The Place-Names of Devon gives the earliest record for the name Wressing as Wressan in 1809. The settlement, however, is clearly of post-medieval or even medieval origin.
It has been suggested that Wressing may represent 'Wrestelles' as in the manor of Sowell and Wrestelles, which was sold with other manors in 1587.
