  • HOUSE (XVII to XIX - 1700 AD to 1900 AD)

Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Building with two internal divisions shown on 19th century Tithe Map. The north-west end of this appears to now be Slate Cottage.

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Long rectangular building (with a porch extending from the eastern side) shown on 19th century map unchanged from the Tithe Map depiction. Map object based on this source.

Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.

Building shown on the early 20th century map is considerably smaller; Slate Cottage and an adjoing cottage (?) of similar size is all theat remains; the whole rest of the south-east end of the old house is no longer depicted.

Ordnance Survey, 2015, MasterMap (Cartographic). SDV357601.

Buildings shown on the modern mapping are Slate Cottage and adjoining neighbour and a newer structure attached to the south-east. This building appears to have been built in the later 20th century.
Map object based on this source. The south-eastern end of the building has been included as this likely overlies the site of the old house (Richards, A. F., 1/10/2016).
