The extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit.

An extraction pit of possible post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the east of Coniger Cross. The earthwork pit is sub-circular in shape, measures approximately 27m in diameter and is located along the southern edge of Stony Lane, within an area where similar such features have been recorded. The probable extraction pit is visible on Lidar derived images of between 1998-2007.
