Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2014-2015, East and Mid Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV356883.

Cropmark ditches of uncertain date and function are visible on aerial photographs of 1996 and 2000, to the northwest of Blackhill Reservoir. The cropmarks are sited on gentle to moderate northwest facing slope and are fairly well-defined in nature. They are broadly L-Shaped in plan and appear to form part of three partial rectilinear enclosures. The cropmarks may form part of a series of medieval or post-medieval field boundaries, passing out of use by the time of the parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48, or alternatively may be of prehistoric date. A series of adjacent and linear cropmarks of probable field drains are also visible which may also suggest a more recent date to the features.
