A shallow oval pit was visible as an earthwork on the gentle west-facing slopes west of Strete Ralegh, Whimple, on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2005. The pit might have been the remains of a former quarry pit of post medieval date to 19th century date. It did not correspond with any features depicted on the Ordnance Survey first edition 25 inch map and might therefore have passed out of use prior to the 1840s, possibly before the construction of Strete Raleh House. The pit probably survives as a subtle earthwork.
