A possible former quarry of medieval to post-medieval date was visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2005, on the south facing slopes to east of Carradale Farm, Rockbeare.
The pit does not correspond with any quarry depicted on the Tithe Map for Rockbeare or the Ordnance Survey 25 inch first edition map, and this might support the interpretation that it had passed out of use prior to the 1840s.
