An extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the southwest of Venmore Farm. The earthwork pit is sub-rectilinear in shape, measures approximately 50m in length by 45m in width and occupies the site of a former orchard symbolised on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. The presence of several trees within the partly infilled earthwork pit suggests the extraction pit pre-dates establishment of the orchard. The earthwork pit has been almost completely levelled on aerial photographs of 1969, but remains visible as a slight earthwork. It is not clearly visible after this date, although still possibly survives as an earthwork.
