Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2014-2015, East and Mid Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV356883.

The remains of a former field boundary and earthwork ridges were visible on aerial photographs of 1946 to the west of Jack-in-the-Green, Rockbeare.
The banks were between circa 6 and 7 metres in width and extend over an area of circa 1700 square metres. They are interpreted as probable fruit tree planting banks of post-medieval to 20th century date, made to enhance drainage within an orchard.
The banks do not coincide with any orchard depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch first edition map, and therefore probably passed out of use prior to the 1880s. The orchard banks have probably been levelled as part of the redevelopment of this plot as a garage forecourt or car park.
