A shallow earthwork pit, probably the remains of a former quarry or Marl Pit of medieval to post-medieval date, was visible on aerial photographs and digital images derived from lidar data on a north-facing slope to the north-east of Crannaford House, Broadclyst. The pit is teardrop shaped, the long axis measuring up to circa 43 metres, probably aligned along a former field boundary, and up to circa 24 metres wide. The pit is not depicted on the Ordnance Survey first edition 25inch map and might therefore have passed out of use prior to the 1880s.
