Hegarty, C., 2015, Comments arising from the transcription of earthworks at Lifton Wood from Lidar data (Interpretation). SDV358492.
A possible quarry of post-medieval to 19th century date was visible as an earthwork pit on the south-facing slopes at Lifton Wood, on images derived from lidar data.
The pit is roughly trefoil shaped and measures circa 25 metres across. It does not correspond with any features depicted on the 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey first edition map and might therefore have passed out of use prior to the 1880s.
