The extent of the extraction pit is depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s.

An extraction pit of possible post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, off Toby Lane. The large semi-circular shaped earthwork measures approximately 55m in length by 47m in width and abuts an extant field boundary along its western edge. The extent of the earthwork is partly defined on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. It remains visible as an earthwork pit, although partly obscured by tree cover, on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2010.
