The earthwork measures approximately 60m in length and appears to pre-date the site of an orchard which is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s and is also visible on aerial photographs of 1946. The extraction pit is visible on aerial photographs of 1989, although is not visible by 2000 and may have been completely levelled following landscaping works for the creation of a golf course at Merehaven Manor.
