Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2014-2015, East and Mid Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV356883.

Extraction pits of medieval to modern date are visible as earthwork pits on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the southwest of Hogsbrook Farm. The two adjacent earthworks are located either side of a former east to west aligned field boundary, with the northern of the two possibly defined on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. The two earthworks appear to form part of a single extraction pit which has been dissected by, and so pre-date, the field boundary. The earthwork pits are visible on aerial photographs of 2000.
