Orchard banks of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the northeast of Cannonwalls Farm. Orchards are depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, although by 1946, aerial photographs show that the orchard trees have been largely grubbed up, leaving a series of broadly north to south and east to west aligned earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established, visible. These banks occupy an area of approximately 0.97 hectares of gentle northeast facing slope within two adjacent rectilinear shaped plots depicted on historic maps. The earthwork banks are visible on aerial photographs of 1965, although are no longer visible by 2000 and appear to have been completely levelled following landscaping works for creation of a golf course at Merehaven Manor.
