The extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit.

An extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the northwest of Higher Pilehayes Farm. The oval shaped feature of a possible former clay pit measures approximately 25m in length by 20m in width. It remains visible as an earthwork pit on Lidar-derived images of 2005. A number of similar such extraction pits were also recorded within the vicinity.
