An oval earthwork pit, possibly the remains of a former quarry of medieval to post-medieval date, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs and digital images derived from lidar data on the north-west-facing slopes to the west of Rull Farm, Whimple.
The pit is over 60 metres long and 25 metres wide. It is not depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch First Edition map and therefore probably passed out of use prior to the 1880s.
