Possible orchard banks of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, at Manor Farm. An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, although by 1946, aerial photographs show that the orchard trees have been completely grubbed up, leaving a series of parallel northwest to southeast and northeast to southwest aligned earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established, visible. The earthworks to the northeast and northwest, however, are not shown as orchards on the First Edition OS map, which may suggest that any additional orchards established here had been entirely cleared by this time. The earthworks occupy an area of approximately 1.78 hectares of gentle northwest facing slope, on the western side of Manor Farm. The orchard banks are visible on aerial photographs up until 1963, although their survival after this date is unclear and may have been completely levelled.
