Two curvilinear ditches are visible on aerial photographs taken between 1955 and 1999 as earthworks on the valley sides east of Bowhay Farm. They are aligned approximately along the contour, dropping less than 5 metres across a 225 metre length, and interpreted as water meadow gutters of probable 19th century date that diverted water from its natural path in the centre of the valley to the west and distributed it across the hillside. Some of the gutters are visible on later available aerial photographs, and it seems likely that earthwork remains survive.
