A circular earthwork pit circa 20 metres in diameter, possibly the remains of a former quarry of medieval to 19th century date, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs and digital images derived from lidar data on the north-facing slopes to the south of Clyst St Lawrence.
The pit is not depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch First Edition map and, if it is evidence for a former quarry, it therefore passed out of use prior to the 1880s.
