An extraction pit of possible post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the north of Canterbury House Farm. The irregular shaped earthwork, which may represent two intercutting pits, measures approximately 56m long by 20m wide and is situated within an area of woodland depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. The earthwork remains visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1985, although appears to have been levelled by 1988 following landscaping works associated with construction of an agricultural barn.
