Orchard banks of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1996 onwards, to the west of Little Greendale Farm. An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. The orchard remains covered with fruit trees on aerial photographs of 1963, although by 1996 the trees have been completely grubbed up, leaving a series of parallel northwest to southeast aligned earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established, visible. These banks occupy an area of approximately 0.25 hectares of gentle south facing slope within a single rectilinear shaped plot depicted on the First Edition OS map. Faint traces of the earthwork banks are visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2010.
