An extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the southeast of Clarendon Farm. The sub-oval shaped earthwork, which measures approximately 40m in length by 26m in width, appears to have been later re-used as a pond, as symbolised on the Farringdon parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48, and the southern edge of this pit appears to truncate the field boundary on this map. The plot is also recorded as 'Pit and Waste' on the accompanying tithe apportionment, highlighting the earlier function of this earthwork. The earthwork pit remains visible on aerial photographs of 2000.
