The plot is recorded as a copse on the parish tithe apportionment of approximately 1838-48.

The extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit.

An extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946, at Halfway Plantation. The semi-circular earthwork measures approximately 48m in length by 25m in width and is located within a copse first recorded as such on the Colaton Raleigh parish tithe apportionment of approximately 1838-48. The former extraction pit is completely obscured by tree cover on aerial photographs after 1946, although is likely to survive as an earthwork pit.
