An extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the west of The Mattocks. The earthwork is sub-oval in shape and measures approximately 55m in length by 36m in width. It appears to predate the site of an orchard which is visible on aerial photographs overlying the former extraction pit. The earthwork pit remains visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2010.
