A dark curvilinear cropmark, circa 55 by 2.5 metres, is visible on aerial photographs taken between 1946 and 2010. Its form is consistent with a cropmark that formed over the buried remains of an infilled medieval field boundary ditch, but it does not appear to fit into the surrounding field system, elements of which are of medieval character. No field boundaries are depicted in this location on the available historic maps, suggesting that any boundary here probably fell out of use prior to the mid-19th century. It is possible that the cropmark formed over the infilled ditch of an earlier enclosure, perhaps of prehistoric date, around the hilltop.
