A possible quarry of between medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the east of Bridge Copse. The large oval shaped earthwork measures approximately 54m in length by 40m in width and is located on gentle northwest facing slope, on the southern side of a stream. The nature of the earthwork is, however, largely unclear. Whilst it would appear to represent a former quarry, a similar such feature being visible in close proximity to the northeast, it is also possible it represents a natural hollow, albeit very regular. The earthwork remains clearly visible on Lidar-derived images of 2005.
