A possible extraction pit of likely post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1963 onwards, to the northeast of Mill Cottage. The sub-circular shaped earthwork measures approximately 20m in diameter and is situated on moderate southwest facing slope, to the north of a stream. It is also possible the earthwork represents a natural hollow, possibly formed from a spring head flowing downslope into the stream. A number of similar such features were recorded alongside this stream further to the south. The earthwork pit remains visible on Lidar-derived images of 2005.
