A possible quarry, or natural feature such as a spring-head, is visible as a sunken earthwork feature on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, at Marsh Green. The oval shaped feature measures approximately 45m in length by 27m in width and is located on moderate east facing slope, with a stream to the east. A narrow channel which emanates from the eastern edge of the earthwork downslope towards this stream may suggest the feature is of natural origin, rather than a quarry or extractive pit. The earthwork is clearly visible on Lidar-derived images of 2005.
