Orchard banks of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as a series of earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the southwest of Woodhouse Farm. The earthworks occupy an area within Plot 365 on the Rockbeare Parish Tithe Map of approximately 1838-48 and which is recorded as Marles Orchard on the accompanying Tithe Apportionment, although by the time of the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, the orchard appears to have been completely cleared. The northwest to southeast aligned earthworks occupy an area of approximately 0.11 hectares of fairly level ground. The earthworks remain visible on aerial photographs of 1963, although appear to have been completely levelled by 1989.
