A large earthwork depression is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016 west of Moorsplash Farm. The depression corresponds approximately with a plot recorded as 'Seven Acre Pit' (Plot 2023) and depicted as an orchard on the Tithe Map. The plot continues to be depicted as an orchard on subsequent historic maps and is visible on 1940s aerial photographs, until it passed out of use in the mid 20th century. A marl pit is recorded to the south (MDV11303).
The depression is interpreted as a post-medieval extractive pit, possibly for marl, that ceased extraction prior to circa 1840, after which it was planted as an orchard.
