An irregular earthwork pit, circa 45 by 16 metres, in Powderham New Plantation is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and on images derived from lidar data captured in 2007. The area is obscured by trees in the later available aerial photographs. The pit may be the remains of a quarry, probably disused prior to the late-19th century, since no feature is depicted on the first edition OS maps.
