A possible former quarry or extractive pit of probable post-medieval to 19th century date was visible on aerial photographs and digital images derived from lidar data as a roughly circular earthwork pit approximately 15 metres in diameter on the north-facing slopes of a spur overlooking Poltimore Park to the north. The pit did not corresponded with any features depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch First Edition Map of the 1880s-1890s, and had therefore probably passed out of use by the late 19th century. The possible former quarry or extractive pit can be seen as a shallow earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data of 2005.
