A probable former ditched field boundary of possible post medieval to 19th century date was visible on aerial photographs of 1964 as a narrow earthwork bank and shallow ditches on the north-facing slopes overlooking Home Farm, Poltimore. The relict bank was almost three metres wide in places and was visible for approximately 145 metres, flanked by the remains of narrow ditches. The earthwork did not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch First Edition map or the Tithe map for Poltimore, and was therefore removed prior to the 1840s. The curved course of the might support the interpretation that the boundary was medieval in origin. A tree, depicted on the Ordnance First Edition map and still visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2010, appears to be located on the former boundary and may be the remains of former hedgerow planting. The bank was not visible on this image and has probably been levelled.
