Two possible former extraction pits of between medieval to modern date are visible as earthwork pits on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the north of Higher Upcott. The two adjacent features are oval in shape and measure approximately 21m and 25m in length. They remain visible as earthwork pits on Lidar-derived images of 2005.
